DarkGate Operator Uses Skype, Teams Messages to Distribute Malware

A threat actor is compromising Skype and Microsoft Teams accounts to distribute a malware called DarkGate. The malware, linked to information theft, keylogging, and ransomware activities such as Black Basta, is being leased out to other threat actors, causing an increase in activity. Trend Micro, tracking the campaign, says it primarily targets organisations in the Americas. The security firm recommends blocking external domains, controlling attachments and implementing multifactor authentication to better protect against such threats.
