A vulnerability in the DanaBot malware led to a law enforcement operation in which its operations were dismantled and 16 members indicted. The ‘DanaBleed’ flaw exposed private data over time, including threat actor details, victim data, and private cryptographic keys, which allowed researchers to collect valuable intelligence. DanaBot’s infrastructure is now offline and almost $4 million in cryptocurrency has been seized, significantly neutralising the threat.
