CynergisTek is acquiring IT risk advisory service Backbone Consultants for $7 million, with potential earnouts of $4 million over three years. The deal will enhance CynergisTek’s risk advisory services and provide expertise in privacy, security, auditing, and compliance. Backbone Consultants’ audit services will help CynergisTek’s healthcare clients meet the requirements of the US Drug Enforcement Agency for electronic prescriptions for controlled substances. The acquisition will also prepare CynergisTek for the opportunity with the California Consumer Privacy Act.
