Cybercriminals Clone Antivirus Site to Spread Venom RAT and Steal Crypto Wallets

Cybersecurity researchers have unveiled a malicious campaign using a fake Bitdefender antivirus software website to dupe users into downloading a dangerous trojan called Venom RAT. This nasty campaign targets individuals for financial gain by compromising credentials, crypto wallets, and possibly selling system access. Victims are baited into downloading a Windows version of the fake antivirus software from a site called “bitdefender-download[.]com”. The download contains malware associated with Venom RAT and code related to SilentTrinity and StormKitty stealer.
