A survey by German digital association Bitkom revealed that cyber attacks have already cost the country €206bn ($224bn) in 2023, likely due to digital and industrial espionage and data theft. About three quarters of the firms surveyed experienced cyber attacks in the past year, which, although less than the previous periods, had resulted in 70% having sensitive data stolen and 61% being spied on in their digital communications.
