Cybercrime Orgs Increasingly Use Human Trafficking to Staff Scam Mills

Interpol’s Operation Storm Makers II, a joint effort across 27 Asian countries targeting cyber-fraud networks involved in human trafficking, has led to 281 arrests and the rescue of 149 trafficking victims following a five-month investigation. The operation also sparked an additional 360 investigations. Participants are tempted with lucrative job offers to then be forced into committing online fraud on a large scale.
