Cyberattack on Serviceaide Compromises Data of 480,000 Catholic Health Patients

A data breach at technology vendor Serviceaide, which exposed sensitive information of around 480,000 Catholic Health patients, occurred due to an incorrectly secured database. Revealed information includes names, social security numbers, and medical records. Serviceaide found no direct evidence of misuse but the delayed detection raises concerns over third-party healthcare IT systems’ vulnerabilities. Serviceaide is offering patients 24 months of credit monitoring. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is reviewing the breach.
