HealthEC, a population health technology vendor, suffered a cyberattack that impacted over 4.4 million individuals, including more than 1 million residents in Michigan. The unknown actor accessed and copied files, including personal and medical information, from the HealthEC’s network between July 14 and 23, 2023. This was the second breach to hit Michigan-based health system Corewell. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is pushing for new requirements regarding immediate notifications of data breaches.
