The Android banking trojan, Crocodilus, is rapidly evolving and spreading across Europe, South America and parts of Asia. The malware, which inserts fake entries into victims’ contact lists, has been distributed mainly through malicious ads on Facebook, viewed by users aged over 35. After being redirected to a malware website, the Crocodilus dropper bypasses Android security restrictions. Cybersecurity firm ThreatFabric has not attributed the malware to a specific cybercrime group.
