Criminals are using a virtual hard disk image file to host and distribute dangerous malware

Forcepoint, a cybersecurity firm, has found a new phishing campaign where virtual hard disk image files host and distribute VenomRAT malware. This evasion method bypasses security measures on email or an endpoint. The malware steals sensitive information, manipulates the victim’s computer, captures screenshots, and activates webcams.
