A significant analysis of over 93,600 deliveries from March 2020 to July 2021 found that the risks of severe maternal morbidity (SMM) among mothers with COVID-19 infections, such as respiratory distress syndrome and renal failure, were 1.66-2.22 times higher than in mothers without COVID-19. These findings add to evidence of the risks of COVID-19 during pregnancy, stressing the importance of early detection and treatment, especially in already high-risk groups.
