UK councils, solicitors, an NHS trust and police have revealed domestic abuse victims’ personal details, potentially endangering lives. The main issue has been the accidental disclosure of victims’ addresses to alleged perpetrators. The information commissioner issued reprimands to seven organisations, including a government department, housing association and a police force. Cases included South Wales Police disclosing information to violent partners and Bolton at Home unwittingly sharing rehousing details with perpetrators. The commissioner called for adequate staff training and systems to prevent future incidents.
