Cook Children’s Begins Cloud Migration Journey with Disaster Recovery

Cook Children’s migrated their disaster recovery data center to the cloud with help from a consulting firm, CDW. The process involved educating the team about working in the cloud, forecasting compute and storage needs, and factoring in human components of the change. The organization began migration for reasons of scalability and alignment with partners, but emphasized the importance of business continuity in case of a cyberattack. The first data migrated was their Epic disaster recovery data, which includes essential healthcare records.
