US cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has confirmed it was hacked, with customer data and internal documents accessed. Threat actors made a $20 million ransom demand to avoid disclosing stolen data, but the company refused, pledging instead to establish a $20 million reward fund for information leading to the hackers’ conviction. The breach is believed to have impacted about 100,000 users. CEO Brain Armstrong said system changes are being implemented to prevent future breaches.
