The bug could potentially expose protected health information of some patients. CMS is contacting affected beneficiaries and developers and plans to offer necessary protections, such as credit monitoring. The issue only affects Blue Button 2.0, not other systems. CMS is investigating the root cause of the bug and implementing measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
