Progressive Casualty Insurance and Builders Mutual Insurance are facing class-action lawsuits following data breaches in 2022 that may have exposed over 411,000 people’s personal data. The suits allege the companies failed to adequately safeguard customer data, including names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and workers’ compensation information. In accused of waiting nine months to disclose the breach, Builders Mutual is facing a multimillion-dollar suit with possible additional plaintiffs. Progressive is accused of failing to notify affected customers promptly after discovering the breach. Both companies have yet to respond to the complaints.
