Claroty, a firm specialising in cyber-physical systems protection, has found that 99% of 351 healthcare organisations analysed had known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Additionally, 89% of these organisations are insecurely connected to the internet and operate systems that are vulnerable to publicly available exploits. In some cases, 20% of hospital information systems, which manage clinical patient data and other important information, contain KEVs linked to ransomware. The study highlights the vulnerabilities of medical devices most coveted for exploitation.
