The Akira ransomware gang is attempting to exploit a Cisco VPN vulnerability which allows unauthenticated, remote attackers to conduct brute force attacks and potentially access Cisco’s remote access VPN. Though there is no software update yet available, Cisco has issued advisory recommendations and workarounds for the flaw. This ransomware gang, a relatively new threat, is observed to be increasing its activity, ranking as the 5th most active in May.
