Health IT company CIOX Health has filed a lawsuit against the US Department of Health and Human Services and acting Secretary Eric Hargan, in an attempt to stop the enforcement of certain changes to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). CIOX has taken issue with regulations implemented in 2013 and 2016 that expanded the type of patient information to be transmitted, but limited the fees that providers could charge for the process. The company claims that the changes are irrational and arbitrary.
