The CIA has stated with “low confidence” that COVID-19 probably originated from a lab leak in China – a shift from its earlier neutral position on the issue. The statement, made after Director John Ratcliffe took office, suggested both a lab-related and natural origin for the pandemic were plausible. Ratcliffe has previously supported the theory that the virus was developed at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
