Chinese hackers reportedly hijacked South Korean VPN provider IPany’s website to spread malware, according to antivirus company ESET. The malware was discovered in May 2024 and was traced back to IPany’s site, which was found to be deploying both legitimate software and a malicious backdoor named SlowStepper. The attack, attributed to Chinese hacking group PlushDemon, could have allowed the group to spy on high-value targets.
