China-made medical devices are all over U.S., and the Feds are worried

The Contec CMS8000, a Chinese-made medical monitor, has raised cybersecurity concerns due to a vulnerability that exposes the device to potential hacking. The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the FDA have expressed concern over this backdoor, which could allow the modification of patients’ health data. In the broader context, experts are alarmed by the many Chinese healthcare devices present in the US medical system. CISA and the FDA advise running these devices locally and disabling remote access until a patch is available.
