Chicago children’s hospital says nearly 800,000 affected by January ransomware attack

The Rhysida ransomware group attacked the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago in January, leaking sensitive health data of almost 800,000 people. The data included both basic and sensitive information such as social security numbers and medical records. Despite being forced to take its health record system offline, the hospital refused to pay the ransom and is now offering victims two years of identity protection services.
