Hilgers is suing Change Healthcare, UnitedHealth Group, and Optum following a data breach that leaked the personal and medical details of around 575,000 Nebraskans. The breach was allegedly due to poor cybersecurity practices, including outdated infrastructure, ineffective data segmentation, and a lack of multi-factor authentication. The lawsuit alleges state consumer protection law violations and mismanagement of the incident. The Attorney General’s office also accuses Change Healthcare of delaying notification of the breach.
