UnitedHealth Group is addressing issues following a ransomware attack on subsidiary Change Healthcare. CEO Andrew Witty revealed out-dated tech within Change intensified the attack’s impact and the company is now modernising its systems. The hackers accessed the network with stolen credentials, causing UnitedHealth to enlist several security firms to boost recovery and cybersecurity strategy. Multifactor authentication was also not enabled on the breached server, an issue the company is investigating and working to rectify.
