Healthcare firm Change Healthcare paid a $22m ransom after it was attacked by the AlphV hacking group, also known as BlackCat. The company paid the ransom in bitcoin to protect patient data but found another group, RansomHub, claiming possession of compromised data. The incident caused significant disruption to healthcare services and saw an estimated loss of $872m, with the possibility of it surging to $1bn over time.
