Discount theatre ticketing platform Central Tickets confirmed a data breach on 1 July in a staging database used for testing, separated from its main app and website, which was not discovered until September. Names, email addresses, mobile numbers, and hashed passwords were accessed. As the breach was reported by the Metropolitan Police after finding dark web chatter about it, reports mistakenly cited figures that exceeded Central Tickets’s customer base. CEO Lee McIntosh apologised to customers and assured that measures were taken to prevent a recurrence.
