The Central Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Greater Chennai Police will now handle sensitive cases including bank frauds, fake passport and visa cases. The Cyber Crime Police Station, under the CCB, will manage cyber crime cases. On the other hand, crimes such as data theft, impersonation, and other offences related to social media will be looked into by the local police. Matters involving money lending, job racketeering, chit fund frauds and forgery exceeding certain amounts will also be handled by the CCB.
