CDC issues travel advisory for Mexico, citing ‘Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever’

The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has issued a travel advisory for Mexico due to reports of Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF), specifically from travelers returning from the region of Tecate, in Baja California. The CDC advises self-protection by using insect repellents and checking for ticks on the body and on clothing. Symptoms include fever, headache and a potential rash.
