Canadian government discloses data breach after contractor hacks

Two contractors of the Canadian government, Brookfield Global Relocation Services (BGRS) and SIRVA Worldwide Relocation & Moving Services, were hacked last month, potentially exposing sensitive information of government employees dating back to 1999. The LockBit ransomware group has claimed responsibility for breaching SIRVA’s systems, saying it has stolen documents and backups. The number of affected individuals remains undetermined.
