The Business Registration Service (BRS) has reported a data breach on its company registry system following a cyberattack in late January. BRS Director-General, Kenneth Gathuma, stated the organisation has initiated an investigation and informed appropriate regulatory bodies. The full extent of the breach is still being assessed but Gathuma says ensuring the security of the company registry remains their priority. This is the first major cyberattack on a government agency since an attack on Kenya Airways in 2023.
