Brussels calls on member states to invest more in hospital cybersecurity

The EU Commission has presented an action plan to build a cyber shield around EU hospitals and healthcare providers, following 309 major cyberattacks in 2023. The plan includes creating a support center for hospitals and a rapid response service. Despite calls for greater cybersecurity investment, concerns persist over imbalances between public and private facilities and the lack of security specialists. The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) will develop a pan-European cybersecurity center and early-warning service by 2026.
