In a keynote speech at the CHIME10 Fall CIO Forum, the nation’s healthcare IT chief, David Blumenthal, admits that achieving meaningful use of health IT will be difficult, but emphasizes the importance of not standing still and thinking about what meaningful use will look like in the future. He also highlights the need for data sharing, privacy, and security, as well as patient consent and control over health records. Blumenthal expects these concerns to be addressed in the next six to eight months.
