BlackBerry’s latest Quarterly Global Threat Intelligence Report reveals a 70% rise in new malware attacks in Q3. This equates to almost 3 new attacks a minute, involving a range of tools and methods, and often targeting high-value and financially lucrative sectors. BlackBerry’s AI systems successfully blocked over 3.3 million attacks from June to August 2023. The financial services sector is the most attacked, though the healthcare sector has seen a significant rise in unique attacks. There has also been a rise in double extortion by ransomware groups.
