Biden’s Nursing Home Staffing Rule Surfaces Horror Stories

The Biden administration plans to set minimum staffing levels for nursing homes, despite opposition from the industry. The new rules received over 46,500 comments, including stories of neglect and substandard care. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will also toughen self-assessment requirements for homes. However, exemptions to staffing rules will be offered to homes in areas with worker shortages. Critics say the new rules are either not stringent enough or are infeasible. Nursing homes have until 2026 to comply.
