Biden Proposes Healthcare Data Leak Rules

The US Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology, Anne Neuberger, said that in light of major data breaches, healthcare institutions need to strengthen cybersecurity. Current regulations are being updated under Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) at a cost of $9 billion in the first year and $6 billion in the next five years. Proposals will include data encryption and compliance checks.
