Beware of new Android malware hiding in popular apps

A new Android trojan named “Xamalicious” was recently distributed through the Google Play Store, hiding within apps related to health, games, horoscope, and productivity. Google removed the infected apps after they were reportedly downloaded by hundreds of thousands of users globally, leaving potentially numerous devices at risk. The trojan allows hackers to access personal information and gain control of a users’ device. Users are advised to follow best practices including having good antivirus software, sticking to official app stores, and avoiding third-party app downloads.
