Beware AvosLocker Ransomware Attacks on Critical Infrastructure

The FBI and the Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Security Agency (CISA) have warned of increasing cyberattacks by ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) operation AvosLocker on critical US infrastructure. The ransomware group has been compromising Windows, Linux, and VMWare ESXi systems, using multiple tactics such as double extortion and exploiting native and open-source software. Amid a nearly 80% increase in ransomware attacks this year, Corvus predicts more activity in Q4. To boost resilience, CISA advises applying cybersecurity best practices and specific restrictions.
