Beast Ransomware Attacking Windows, Linux, And ESXi Systems

Cybersecurity researchers at Cybereason have discovered a new ransomware called ‘Beast’, which targets Windows, Linux, and ESXi systems. The ransomware, active since 2022, uses elliptic-curve and ChaCha20 encryption and multi-threaded file encryption. Beast spreads through phishing emails, compromised RDP endpoints, and SMB network scans, and targets a wide range of file formats.
