Banking Malware Uses Live Numbers to Hijack OTPs, Targeting 50,000 Victims

Financial fraud on mobile devices is rising due to the prevalence of digital payments and the interception of one-time passwords. Indian bank users have become the latest targets of a mobile malware campaign. The campaign, uncovered by the Zimperium zLabs research team, involves over 1,000 malicious Android apps distributed primarily through WhatsApp. These apps steal financial and personal data, such as Aadhaar and PAN card details, ATM PINs, and mobile banking credentials.
