Banking data theft on smartphones surge 196%

Smartphone banking data theft has almost tripled, with a 196% increase in 2024 compared to 2023, according to a report by cybersecurity company Kaspersky. Globally, over 33.3 million attacks were detected, with malware programs designed to steal banking credentials, e-payment service logins, and credit card information ramping up. Despite this, AdWare remains the most widespread threat.
