Healthcare is the costliest sector for responding to and recovering from data breaches, averaging $9.8m per incident this year, down from $10.9m in 2023. However, finance, the second most expensive sector, reported an average cost of just $6.1m. The study reveals that data breaches cost industries 10% more in 2023, despite cybersecurity measures. AI implementation did manage to reduce the cost of breaches by an average of $2.2m.
