Singapore police have reported at least 82 cases of malware scams which have resulted in total losses of about $625,000 since December 2024. The scammers draw in victims through fraudulent advertisements on Facebook and TikTok. After providing contact information, the victims are asked to download a malicious application which gives the scammers access to sensitive information on the victims’ devices, enabling unauthorized transactions.
