ASO Therapy Repairs Neurons from Timothy Syndrome Patients

Stanford University researchers have created an antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) therapy to correct a splicing error that causes Timothy syndrome, a severe neurodevelopmental disorder. The ASO therapy has effectively restored cellular defects in lab models, and when tested in an in vivo model using rat brains, it delivered a robust downregulation of aberrant brain activity. This research could be a game-changer for treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders.
