Ascension healthcare provider has found attackers accessed files from seven of its 25,000 servers in a recent cybersecurity breach. Third-party cybersecurity experts are investigating the breach, thought to have been caused by an employee mistakenly downloading a malicious file. The potentially affected files may contain protected health information and personally identifiable information, but it is not thought data was taken from the company’s electronic health records system. Ascension is offering credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.
