Arm Mali GPU Vulnerability Let Bypass MTE and Gain Arbitrary Kernel Code Execution

Security researchers discovered a critical vulnerability (CVE-2025-0072) in Arm’s Mali GPU driver, allowing malicious Android apps to bypass Memory Tagging Extension (MTE) protections and execute arbitrary kernel code. Affecting newer Arm Mali GPUs, this flaw stems from memory management issues in queue binding processes, highlighting that hardware security can be systematically bypassed. Arm has since released a fix.
