Are your medical records open to theft?

Electronic medical records are becoming more common in the American healthcare system, with most hospitals and close to half of all doctors in the country using digital systems. The Affordable Care Act incentivizes the use of electronic records through bonus payments for efficient and effective care. However, concerns about privacy and security remain, as data breaches are becoming more frequent and healthcare providers have been slow to adopt encryption techniques. Sharing medical records between different software systems also remains a challenge.
