Are mask mandates making a comeback?

The US is seeing a surge in respiratory viruses, causing worries of a “quad-demic” – a quadruple threat of flu, COVID-19, RSV and norovirus. Hospitalizations have risen in major cities such as Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, with a subsequent increase in mask mandates. The rise in cases is attributed to the recent holiday season and reduced vaccination rates. Health officials are advising preventative measures, such as hand washing and masking in public.
