Antimicrobial Peptide Cocktail Leave Bacteria Shaken Up

In 2019, 1.27 million people directly died through drug-resistant bacterial strains, which contributed to 4.95 million deaths. Researchers at the Free University of Berlin have found antimicrobial peptides (chains of amino acids that function as broad-spectrum antimicrobial compounds) to be effective at making bacteria less likely to develop resistance. This means continuous research into antimicrobial peptides is key to finding longer-lasting treatments for bacteria.
