Android owners told to delete ‘clone’ app NOW over fears it can read your messages and steal bank card info

Cybersecurity researchers at Cyfirma have discovered a new strain of Android malware cloned from popular messaging app, Telegram. The fake ‘Telegram Premium’ app is found on phishing websites imitating the RuStore, Russia’s version of the Google Play Store. Once downloaded, the app allows hackers to monitor notifications, text messages, and phone calls, steal login information, and copy everything appearing on the screen, including financial details during online transactions.
